Developing a Sustainable Flexible Pavement Database in Texas

چکیده
15. Supplementary Notes Project performed in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. 16. Abstract This project has demonstrated that it is possible to track the network-level performance of surface mixtures constructed in Texas. A procedure is outlined in the report to accomplish this and involves firstly identifying a project’s extents in terms of Texas Reference Marker (TRM) information. A web-based tool was developed to allow TRM information to be derived for SiteManager projects constructed in Texas. This involves locating the beginning and ending points of a project as described in TxDOT SiteManager and/or Design and Construction Information System (DCIS) databases and interpolating the TRM information from a geographical database containing longitude and latitude coordinates of TRMs in Texas. The web-based tool provides street, topographical and satellite aerial maps to assist with the identification of the project extents. Once TRMs for a project are defined, network level performance indices and measures may be extracted for the project from the TxDOT Performance Management Information System (PMIS) database. The procedure as outlined is subject to certain constraints that are discussed in the report, most notably the assumption that the performance information as reported is for the asphalt mixture on the surface of the road being queried, which is not necessarily the case. 17.

Development of an Environmental Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) Protocol for Flexible Pavements that Integrates Life-Cycle Components to a Proprietary Software
Significant progress has been made in research on environmental life-cycle assessment (LCA) of pavements. Use of this new knowledge has been slowed by a lack of standardized datasets and analysis protocols. Several software packages have been developed to address this by providing datasets with broader coverage and better quality, but practitioners need applicationspecific data input interfaces...
متن کاملDeveloping a Network-Level Structural Capacity Index for Structural Evaluation of Pavements
The objective of this project was to develop a structural index for use in network-level pavement evaluation to facilitate the inclusion of the pavement’s structural condition in pavement management applications. The primary goal of network-level pavement management is to provide the best service to the users for the available, often limited, resources. Pavement condition can be described in te...
متن کاملA Spatial-Bayesian Technique for Imputing Pavement Network Repair Data
Pavement construction and repair history is necessary for several pavement management functions such as developing pavement condition prediction models and developing maintenance and rehabilitation (M&R) trigger values based on past repair frequencies. It is often difficult to integrate M&R data with condition data since these data are often stored in disparate heterogeneous databases. This art...
متن کاملApplication of Artificial Neural Networks for Analysis of Flexible Pavements under Static Loading of Standard Axle
In this study, an artificial neural network was developed in order to analyze flexible pavement structure and determine its critical responses under the influence of standard axle loading. In doing so, more than 10000 four-layered flexible pavement sections composed of asphalt concrete layer, base layer, subbase layer, and subgrade soil were analyzed under the impact of standard axle loading. P...
متن کاملStructural Characterization of Iowa's Rubblized PCC Pavements
Rubblization is considered one of the sustainable surface preparation techniques before placing a hot mix asphalt (HMA) overlay that involves breaking the concrete pavement into pieces. The design of the structural overlay thickness for rubblized projects is difficult as the resulting structure is neither a true rigid pavement nor a true flexible pavement. The most important aspect of the desig...
